Hi All,

I have a problem with my gearbox.
Whenever 1st is selected, as soon as you release the clutch it pops back into neutral. All other gears are fine, it just means you from have to drive off in second which is somewhat of an inconvenience for hillstarts for my poor old 998. Any ideas on the cause/remedy would be greatly apprecited.

Dan

hmmmmmm
maybe the ball on the bottom of the shift has worn or the cup on the rod in the remote and is not allowing it to engage properly

Had a look last night, pulled apart the shifter and to my limited mechanical exp it seemed ok. Reassembled and first is useable IF you push down while selecting. Still does not guarantee it though. I'll probably just take her to Ivan in Castle Hill when I have a free weekend and get him to look.

Tried holding it in. Refuses to stay. It does seem to be a worn part in the remote cause it will occasionally engage properly.
