In the process of of stripping the deluxe, and starting to research for an engine rebuild, got a little confused while checking out the casting number of the head...(hoping it was going to be a 12G202 :D ) I found 2 stampings and one casting number, the casting number is "ECAM4004", on the top near the thermostat housing I found a stamping of "/3C6" and on the opposite end I found stamping of "UN969"

Now I know the head had been done for unleaded, but it appears the head may have been replaced completely...the only reference I found similiar to the casting number is CAM4180 which is a casting number from a 998 Mini - A+ (1980-on) and lead free

Would anyone be able help id this head for me so I can find the specs on it...

Cheers

Jason

To find the number to ID the head you need to take the rocker cover off and it is cast into the head under the rockers.

It's a late 998 head.
NOT a 202.

Thanks Doc, late as in the A series, A+ late?

I know it isnt a 202, I just had fingers crossed prior to removing rocker cover to check the casting number, as you never know til you look :D :P

does it have 4 smog ports on front, if so it's from a late Oz Clubby 998.

Im guessing that would be the 4 ports/stud hole looking areas across the front that have been filled and ground back....if so, yes :)

Yep, ECAM4004 is late model 998 Smog head. Mine had that with the charcoal canister, etc.

They can be worked exactly like a 12G202 can...
