 Post subject: Do I replace it?

Is it required, adviseable, desireable or un-necessary to changed the flywheel keyway washer and bolt during a total rebuild?

I've read where the bolt can stretch and loose it's holding ability and beside mine has a few nicks out of it where its been encouraged with a cold chisel. - and besides they're not that dear.

David if you`re sus at all then chuck it & get a new one... The bolt isn`t something you want to stinnge on,,, as long as the key washer isn`t all mashed up & if it looks good then use it,,, but a new bolt is the go.

Dr Mini sez bin the lock washer & use loctite on the bolt, torquing to 150lbft

I've done that on my last few (4 I think) -

Don`t confuse what i said about the "KEY" washer,,, i`m talking about the "KEY washer ,,, not the POS tin lock washer

150 lb/ft is a bit much Simon, I use 130.

BTW I've never stretched/broken a flywheel bolt or bought a new one. :wink:
