Hi guys,

I pulled off the dash, door trims, carpet and underlay from my 78 clubby. There is a lot of glue residue still coating the painted metal, not to mention a covering of hair from the underlay growing out of the firewall. (Is this what people mean by "hairy lime green"??) There are also various hairy papery bits stuck onto the doors behind the trims.

What solvent can I use to remove this crap? I want to give it all a coat of paint. If the dash rails look nice enough, I'll leave them exposed. Don't like the look of the vinyl dash.

I'm going to brush on the paint. Any tips for making minimizing brush marks?

Turpentine will soften and remove it, not in one go however. Wet it using a rag soaked in the turps and let it sit a while, and them wipe away as much as you can. The rest will follow as it is exposed to the turpentine.
