reverse flush the radiator. Mine was doing that too, after the new thermostat as well, so I took the radiator out, flushed it both ways, with hot water and cold 4 times till the water ran clear, then put it back in, new hoses and clamps and a new radiator cap. Now shes runs normal even when flat out on a 40 degree day. Turns out my radiator cap was causing the main problem. For an extra 50 bucks spent on hoses, clamps and a cap, its still cheaper than breaking down on the side of the road. Good luck!
