I've seen 5/16" and 3/8" cutters advertised and wonder what size you need for Minis and Mokes ?

David,
I would say it depends on how good you are at finding the centre of the spot!
5/16" would be good if you are sure of hitting the centre every time!!

The ones I'm looking at have a retractable centre point - line it up then push down to engage the cutters

I haven't heard anything good about those, but some pretty bad press, mainly in the life of the cutters. Spot weld drills, i.e. a drill with a little drill centre and then flat cutting area out to the diametre, are much better. Frost in the UK have them but you may be able to find them locally.

I wouldn't worry about finding the centre exactly each time, as you'll be able to break the little weld that remains; it won't be very strong.

The retractable centers are crap. They jam up...

Thats fair enough David but you have to put that center point somewhere.
The point is that you have to decide where centre is, not always easy.
