so i'm driving last night and i hear this strange strange squeaking coming from what seems like the driver's side front wheel. can only really hear it when the window is open. can't feel anything through the steering wheel, no body shudder, and only happens when the wheels are straight (i did some swerving, the squeaking stops when the wheels are turning)

i'm reluctant to drive until this is fixed, i have a feeling it is the wheel bearing that has shat itself. i won't be able to test this for a couple of days though.

the squeak sounds kinda like that typical ford suspension noise, but is sorta constant.

what the crap is it???

Does it have front drums?
A worn bearing could be letting the drum contact the brake backing plate.

Knuckle joint?

Does it vary with speed? As in, the faster the wheel rotates, the frequency of the occurance of the noise increases?

Is it more or less noticable under braking?

no difference when braking

it is sortof a constant noise, but as the engine noice increases in decibels, the squeak becomes harder to hear... :S

I had squeaking in my rear wheel once, it turned out to be that i didnt do the wheel nuts up tight :oops:
other than that my mechanical skills limited :D

ok so what is the rule for wheel bearings? do you do one side (left/right) or one half (front/back) at the same time?

or, i could just do all four...

i'll check the wheel nuts first though :lol:

I do whatever bearing is gone and leave the rest :wink:

does it get louder when you load a certain side up e.g when you turn left is it louder then when you turn right?

i had similar noise in my front left so i puled split pin out of wheel bearing did it up a bit tighter put pin back in and it went away :) but wheel bearing for sure or something to do with the wheel bearing lol
