Hi all,
I have just fitted the rear trailing arms to my moke and fitted the wheels. Passenger side is ok but on drivers side the tyre hits the rear sub frame bolt. I have already fitted a new rear shaft. The inside of the tyre is about 15 to 20 mil closer than the other side. Where the trailing arm attaches to the sub frame i have taken out the shim/spacer this makes no difference.
Is there anything else that i can check THANKS Dean

Sounds like a bent subframe. If you get an adjustable camber/castor kit that might fix the problem, unless you have two different length trailing arms!

If you have had the trailing arms rebushed, you may have hed them reamed out of alignment as well. if the old arms weren't a problem, and the new ones are,have the bushes checked for concentricity.

More than likely the arm is bent

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.

You should put your heart & soul into everything you do.

If its not a bent arm then it could be a worn hole on the inner mount.

Thought only minis use the bush? - mokes have two needle bearings.

I take it that the wheels/tyres are the same and the offset are also the same on both sides?

Whatever happened to 'dog' being the word of the day? or other simple words like that

Wheels are same size and rim offset is the same.
Trailing arm does have roller bearings at each end
Inner hole on subframe is not worn or slotted

Looks like i will have to dig out another rear trailing arm, clean and paint GRRRR

When I first got the car and fitted new rear bearings and shockers I found the rear wheel on the passenger side rubbed the shocker. I used a spacer (both sides) made from a cut down brake drum to give me some clearance. I've since gone the whole hog and installed adjustable suspension all round and although not adjusted yet I am hoping I can adjust the clearance to suit without the spacer.
