Hi guys, one of my engines seems to blow a fair bit of black smoke. I adjusted the fuel mixture, but it still doesent seem to make much difference?? Is there any other reason aside from too much fuel (Rich) why an engine would blow black smoke??

Thanks Lockie.

Had this problem on my old clubby,it could be the anti pollution canister sucking fuel from the fuel tank straight into the rocker cover.I blanked all the lines on the canister and this fixed the problem. I had to retune the engine due excess fuel before.
Regards Felix

sounds plausable but I don't have this on my mini, so can't be that. Must be the carby then??

If it is the 1978 mini, it should by law have the anti pollution gear (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

I vote carbie problems

nah its actually bluey's spare engine. not the 78 mini. The 78 mini runs like a charm, not a single bit of smoke. :)

Your not having too much luck with your engines. Give us a yell if you still want that 1100 that came with the black mini.

Maaaaate, just had this priblem with Scarlet, and it turned out to be an air leak :? , one of the hoses off the manifold that I normally had blocked off was open. I blocked it up again and no more black smoke. 8)
