Pulled the plugs today NGK BP6ES and the electrodes were covered in a light brown muck they were only oily on the threads.

Question is do i need to go hotter or cooler or stay the same ???

its a 1098

Are you running Valvemaster additive?
It really craps plugs up bad with brown sh!te...

A light brown to grey deposit is fine. A BP6ES plug is OK in most motors.

I would seriously NOT run it. Use Flashlube, it's cheaper, and doesn't leave any crap there. 8)

Doc,
I just checked the bottle and it is Flash lube not the other stuff and i generally run Mobil premium in it

will it leave that muck if it runs lean??

Nope it shouldn't. Did you run Valvemaster before? More likely to run white if it's lean. If so I'd bung 4 new plugs in...

No pretty sure i have always run flash lube in it have run an ethanol blend a couple of times before i read here that it is not a good idea if running SU's

That's because the ethanol eats certain types of rubber, like the O-ring seal in the outlet from the float bowl.

Different brands of fuel will burn differently and leave different deposits.. personally I stay away from Shell and stick to BP Ultimate.

I have found that after lots of K's without cleaning, I get a little brown plaque on my plugs.. I am running Valvemaster additive though. Might give Flashlube a run and see if it clears up! Thanks for the tip, Doc :D
