some are bit hard to see but gives a idea of what it looks like inside.

this shows the cut positions
Image

Image
vertical cut thru No. 4 exhaust port

Image
horizontal cut thru No.4 exhaust port. shows the end of water jacket.

Image
vertical cut thru No's 3&4 inlet valves

Image
vertical cut between No's 2&3 exhaust valves. the center of the head

Image
close up of the water jacket between the two center exhaust v/vs..this is the area to be careful off if you undercut around the v/v seats. its not very thick here.

Image
vertical cut thru middle of No's 1&2 inlet v/v's

Image
horizontal cut thru N0 1 exhaust and No1&2 inlet port.

the problem areas are the tapering of the inlet ports and side clearance to the push rod holes.
The shoulder curves in the ports to the v/vs is not too bad, but do not cut too much off the curve as the wall will end up too thin.

I use these head thickness as a guide to do a 202 as well. the thickness in the problem areas is roughly the same.

Thanks for the photos, David.
Had you done any work on this head before cutting it up?

Very nice. I did this to a badly cracked AEG163 head years ago at NMP with a powered hack saw. Its proberly still there. What did you use to cut the head up? Vizard has lots of photos in his book too. :D
