Ever heard that old saying *Be carefull what you wish for, you might just get it*?
Well thats sorta the reason I've decided to go mini free for a while.
I got my little van on the road not long ago and its perfect!! *welp almost, I havent finished the interior* But I seem to have struck a real problem,

me

im an a$$ and I never realised it. I knew I wasnt safe on my motorbikes and blamed mobile phones and safer cars with dumber drivers. But since getting the van to its current state of tune I realise that I am the problem. The car pretty much drives like a motor bike. Hell its suppose to rev over 7k but I havent even taken it over 6k and yet I scare the crap outa myself with what I am doing.

Race spec engine... race suspension *dont need a new spleen since I got those comfy rover seats at least* this car just wants to go fast and ffs im just not up to the job anymore. If I overtake someone I find I jump from 60 to 85kms+ in a blink and the tiny gaps im taking, damn it I would shake my finger at myself and call myself a d1ckhead. Its not like im doing burn outs... I dont floor it at lights *except for that time that pesky P plater on a motor bike almost touched my wing mirror* and then i turned into a complete twit and stayed a meter off his butt as he sped away *thinking no one could keep up with him*

I simply can not tolerate such irresponible behaviour as its unsafe to everyone else and myself. Sure just use the car for track days you might say. Well I need to put some money into the business that pays the bills, and If I use my face as a crumple zone whilst acting an idiot.... then I fear I have learnt nothing over the last 42 years.
Im not sure if what I am feeling *and my reaction (the for sale add in the for sale forum) is just a process of growing up or maybe I have become some sort of neurotic. But the sooner I get myself an average car that just is... a car and not an awesome weapon of speed and thrills, the better.

One day when I am up for it, I will buy an original 850 with matching body/numbers/drum brakes... and keep it that way, but that day is not today.

it takes guts to admit that..

i suggest you sell your mini k van (as you are trying to) then just buy an original classic.
something simple with all original parts inc. suspension, geometry etc.

something that reminds you of a mini, fun but not "fun" enough to crap yourself.

buy the mini that made you want to buy a mini.

No, don't say that, put a CAM'S cage in it, get it on Club Plates and be the one of/ or the only Van doing Hill Climb and Tarmac Events, Cam's 2 License is pretty straightforward to get, at least if your being silly your being safe at the same time, and Hill Climb's is just you verses the clock and you can still take the dog's to and from the event, Haunted Hill's is a great track and the VMCI hold regular events , this is from before the track was finished http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ8zVB2WFUs, go on you know you want to !

miki why not just tame yours down a little.. replace engine perhaps? I have a nice vanilla 1293 here which would be a great direct swap for your supercharged beast ;)

yeah I wouldn't bail out after just doing all that work

Put your mini’s "power" to good use like hill climbing esp. with a
supercharger

Heck, its never just *one thing* I also came to realise that the money I was spending on my mini, should have been going back into my business to help it grow.
She is an awesome little car and with luck the person who picks her up will give her more love than I can right now. I intended to use her as a daily driver, but its not going to happen, I dont like getting her wet, dont like getting her hot, dont like leaving her out in any weather for that matter *always garaged*. So I have been using my inlaws car to get around..... wtf? like how long is that going to last :) If I used this car as a work car I am going to kill it in the long run or its going to kill me *with speed and a smile*.

Right now I need to grow up and focus on my life, my wife, and my business. Another day, another time.. another mini, who knows. But for now When she goes all the spares will go with her or I will give them away.
cheers miki.
