Hey Guys,

After recent weeks of re-patching up my wiring after a short circuit and oil explosion i've simply had enough. By the time one wire goes from A to B it has changed colour and gauge 3 times...

I need to know what it costs to get a new loom installed and who to go to?

I want this done before OZ50 and i'm located on the northern beaches.

Suggestions?

I was just thinking, if yours is a stock harness, why not try Mini King for a good second hand one. Save time, save money. Also chat to him about fitting.

Just another option,
Since my mini will need many many modifications to fit all my modern accsesories, thermo fans, power everything etc Im getting an entirely new loom.

Rocket and ET performance make generic ones ready made usually to go into hot-rods. they work out a bit cheaper than custom modified one form vintage wires etc and come with a complete wiring diagram relays labeled fuse-box and everything else you would find in a new car

So I can have one here in about a week but I will be fitting it.

Is this something to tackle alone?

If it's just the front harness, not difficult, just fiddley. If you are also doing the rear section, good chance you'll need to tak the roof lining out too.

yes, definitely - putting a wiring loom into a mini may seem daunting, but if it's a proper loom (and should be from vinwire etc.) then everything will be in the right place, and will be the RIGHT COLOUR

get out your scientific publications #64 manual (if you don't have one, get one) and look at the wire colours, and you'll find that if you lay the loom in the engine bay, or on the floor, then compare the colours to the book everything will be in the right and it'll hook right up

it's a really good job to do yourself, very hard to stuff it up

Yep give it a Go. I did my own and hid just about all the wires. With a New Loom. Most of the time they label them. Most are easy to work out EG: lights Blinkers, Alt, Horn, wipers. Behind the bash maybe the trickiest but you will nut it out or just ask. Yep Give it a go... which will make yourself proud
