Have you just built it?
Is it a new problem?
Anything changed recently?

yes it has just been fully rebuilt but i haven't done anything with the carby yet as i was going to put a sc12 on it after it was run in and all the bugs worked out.
the air filter is just one of those foam ramflow ones.
i have just checked for any leaks and can't find not even a hint af a leak.

Basic things to check first:

-Idle mixture correct
-Choke closes properly (check that the jet isn't stuck open)
-Check the float bowl level
-Timing

Get someone to put their hand near the exhaust pipe, and hit the gas. If they're hand is wet or black, you're running too rich - check the idle mixture, choke and bowl. If the exhaust is normal, it may be a timing issue.
