had to take the tank out to change the gasket as it was leaking but now I can't remember which way is up :roll:

From your pic ^ if the float arm moves down & to the right, that should be full.

Do the screw holes line up in any position?, i have found some senders will only fit up in the one position.

Quite true, all sender will only line up one way, so the float doesn't contact one of the internal baffles.
