#4 dry certainly is a bit of a worry.
Use much oil does it? Have you shined a torch in the plug hole and had a look around? Sometimes you can see the problem - my 850 came with a very tired Morris 1100 engine, used to smoke like a chimney, when I looked down one bore with the piston near tdc I could see a chunk of the crown missing near the edge!
Yeah that engine got removed quick smart, it never did die on me though...
... but when pulled down most of the top rings fell off the piston in pieces, if they weren't fused in the ring lands...
