Hello

Well it's been a while since I've posted on here. Here is the situation, my 78 clubby has been unregistered for a sad year and half and after a few final bits and pieces arrive I am planning to put 8.4" disc brakes on and some 13x7 superlites.

This may seem a silly question, but would you suggest I get it registered before or after doing the drum to disc conversion? As I am not sure if they will be a bit picky with the bigger wheels on, or what exactly is involved after doing the swap on an already registered car. Any advice/experience with anything similar would be much appreciated.

Steve.

13 x 7s on a car with drums isn't a great idea, the heavier wheels have more rotational mass so need more work to slow down.

Have a flip through this topic with regards possible extra info on offset:

I am not planning on driving on the bigger wheels until I put the discs on, it is still sitting on 10" at the moment.

Ok reading that thread I might just get it registered with the drums and 10" then change it over after to save having to source new wheels for the inspection.

Think long and hard about 13" wheels..

Most people I find, tend to go through an "I want 13 inch wheels NOW" phase
And a few months down the track decide mini's look better on 10's

I vote for 10's and 7.5" discs!

well i've had my mini for 7 years and have liked them since before I owned it. I umm'd and arrrr'd for years, not a big fan of my 10's, after finishing uni and getting sick of my poorly working drum brakes I stopped driving my car and got a car with modern luxuries. I have the discs and wheels sitting in my garage, if i put them on and don't like them I'll swap them for thinner 13's, but my main reasoning is the disc brakes at the moment and these wheels came up for sale and I couldnt resist. Plus they are charcoal, I freakin love them!

Fair enough!

Not trying to sway your opinion, just putting the idea out there.

I myself would have murdered for 13x7 deep dish anythings 12months ago..
Now I wouldn't dream of anything larger than 10's

Good luck sir!

Cheers
