Hi,

My A series 1275cc has a 25D distibutor with the vacuum blocked off due to the twin carbs.

I think my dissy is playing up and i am thinking of replacing it, is it worth sourcing a non-vac distributor or is it okay to block off the vac on a new unit.

P.S. Is there any difference between a 25D & 45D distributor?

Thanks

Roc

Non-vac 45Ds (actually called 43Ds) were used on Minis 1975-1978. Plenty about and they are a good robust dizzy. Even better if you toss the points and fit an electronic module (Pertronix etc) in them.

I used one for years in my modified 1310S.

Depending on the type of carb there's no reason to forego a vac advance because you have twins. And without it you're throwing away $$$.

Cheers, Ian

I run a Pulsar in the 1360 and another in the 1412 stroker.
Yes they work well, but even better if you get the advance curve modified.

Reduce the centrifugal advance slot lengths to give about 10° max.
See my how-to at top of mods forum.
