I managed to mount mine vertically on the subframe near where the Cooper s pumps are mounted
My car is not a daily driver so not too worried about water damage although it is up out of the way, just.

I mounted mine on the rear subframe (on the horizontal face) under the tank. I used two holes that were already there, made up a right angled bracket which I mounted to the subframe with exhaust cotton reel mounts, and bolted the pump to that on a 45deg angle as per the pump recomendations.

I used the facet square one, it bolts straight onto a Mini centre zorst mount. Drill a 5/16" hole through the subby web and fit a nyloc nut, all done.

Mount it on a 45 deg angle like I mentioned and like the doc's photo if you can (really no reason why you shouldn't be able to).
