Hello All, Any tips on stopping the spare from bouncing around in the boot?

Early cars had a screw down clamp, later cars (around post 67?) had nothing. The boot mat helps!

Fit a 35L fuel tank, it sits more snugly over the tyre. A boot board helps too :wink:

Plywood boot board + toolbox + water bottle + oddments cube..
It all goes up and down together on a good bump! But it's hydro, so not as bad as it could be. :wink:

If it really bothers you, you can buy the early screw clamp and base new. All you need to do is spot weld the base plate to the boot floor (not recommended if you have a rare model,), you could use blind rivets too....it just sounds a bit nasty!

If You have Twin tanks I would Fit the Cooper S boot board, If only one tank (not 7.5 gallon ) then I would fit the Cooper Boot board,

To stop this happening all you will need to do it put a piece of form ply size of the wheel rim at least on top of the wheel than a Besser Block on top then get a piece of timber about 4 X 2 and a foot long or so and Jam a Scissors Jack on top of the Brick and the piece of timber jammed under the parcel shelf and wind the Jack up. This should also automatically lower the back end of the car too as a bonus and spare wheel will not bounce around. LoL

I have the usual spare, battery cover and boot liner, and I have never had the spare move anywhere, even with some fairly vigorous country driving.
