Greetings All.
The brake booster I have is missing the rubber diaphram.
It's a Mk1 vh44
It has a PBR 260550 slave cylinder.

Where can I source a new diaphram? Is there a part number I can google? I have a Mk2 booster which is the same hydraulics, but with a larger diaphram (Protex 40-10)

Is there a parts site or list somewhere I can use?

Cheers
Alex

Very easy to get.

Hoppers Stoppers will have them, but they're just one name of thousands of suppliers however.\

Great website however. Its like wiki for brakes.

Thanks Mick.

Had a look at their site. Will have to email them.

Cheers
Alex.

VH44's were on mk2 mini's and GT's. mk1's had Lockheed ones.

Unless there are two types of VH44Ja boosters (but im 98% sure there isn't)

I think the diaphragm went in mine too, so good thing to know where I can get em. Cheers Mick

Mick.

Just went out and had another look.

They both have PBR 260550 slave cylinders. They are exactly the same. Under the little filter grill, they both have VH44-4 in the casting.

The steel chambers both have PBR stamped on them.

The only difference is that one is 7&3/4 inches and has a diaphram rubber (Protex 40-10)

The smaller one is 6&1/4 inches and missing its rubber diaphram.

Nothing has Lockheed on it?

Cheers
Alex.

Your larger 7.75" unit is your VH44 (7.5" Diaphragm). This is the one to rebuild.

I'm not sure of the other smaller unit. VH40 units are larger at 9"

Mick.
I sat the larger one where they usually sit in my 850. There's not enough room between the engine and where it should sit?

Took a couple pics.

The measurements tell me different, but I may be wrong. The larger one is a VH40 with the smaller unit being the VH44. Similar in construction, but the larger unit brings more pressure to bear on the brakes. Too much perhaps for a mini, hence the 44's are the ones we usually use.

Doesn't the bigger one belong in the Landcrab?

Yes.

That's where I started, then wondered off. The larger one was out a 1800 at the wreckers (why?) becuase it was there. I then thought it was possibly Mk2 and the small one Cooper.

Anyhow, I'm going to clean up the small one and visit a place in Adelaide called Power Brakes. I've been to I need a VH44-38 diaphram rubber.
The slave cylinder on the larger one is in perfect condition. I'll check the cups and use that with the smaller chamber.

Cheers all.
Alex.
