Thought I would start this thread as a search did not turn up a lot and it must be a hot topic people are interested in.

Coolant Capacity - 3.6 Lt

Two questions.
1. What was the original formula for Aussie minis?

2. What are people using now ?

Castrol Anti-Freeze Anti-Boil

It has all three I am looking for in a coolant, anit-freeze, anti boil and corrosion inhibitors. And there's a big rule about mixing coolant brands, so when I walk in to buy my coolant after two years, I helps me to know its a single well known brand.

I use any current ehhylene glycol type concentrate, about 25 :75 but

are there 'track rules' which stipulate using a non slippery type.. i have heard it mentioned to use non glycol if going to the track.

one example is http://www.penriteoil.com.au/products.php?id_categ=6&id_products=98 i think it used to be called syn 10???

I've been using the Penrite 10 tenths coolant additive for many years in various competition cars (including alloy and cast iron engines). It has a red colour rather than the glycol green and seems to do the job of corrosion inhibitor and coolant wetting agent very well.

I have done many electrolysis tests on various Coolant additives. The Toyota Long life (Red) is by far the best and the only one I would use. Perhaps not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.
