Gee! Havent drivin Cheezel all week lets see if she wants to start!!! Whirr Whirr then mini type putting noises all good here Gee fuel smells really strong choke not out to much push it back in getting worse! Better investigate as fuel is pissing out of Goss Fuel pump. Should I rebuild it or replace it!!! Any suggestions! Book says can get re build kits wondering if they still exist. Any suggestions guys! From looks of things is original Pump still

I put a rebuild kit through my pump last year. Got the kit from Repco. It was about $35 from memory (may have been more?)
They are a good pump but they are 40 years old!

Mine was leaking from the diaphram but they can leak from the top.

I priced the rebuil kit at $34 at a local spares place, and then realised mine was a sealed unit so i bought a new pump for $80 bucks i think it was.

It just depends on how much time you have to muck around, they arnt that complicated to rebuild. Getting the nuts done up whilst the motor was still in the car took forever, a ratchet spanner would of been nice.

Yep...gotta agree there, if your fuel pump needs new bits and pieces, turf it and get an electric one. Works great

My vote is for electric too! I am having starting problems lately, not bad but slightly. It would start everytime without fail if I have an electric pump...

I fitted the Facet/Purolator/TRW electronic ones. Barney runs an SU, Ha-Ha a Dellorto. No pressure regulator. No probs with either. Ha-Ha's is well over 10 years old now.
They are a bit noisy- I mounted Barney's on a Mini square exhaust mount to shut it up. Can't hear it with motor running....

I have a New Old stock Mech fuel Pump doing nothing if someone wants it $50
I have also fitted Morris electric fuel pump on the Rear seat area...atleast sue knopws when she's out of fuel

Have rebuilt pump! Drove to Work other day no probs then went to drive to the meeting thursday night and she commenced smoking when pulling up at lights!!! Lots of smoke not good. When idling is crap sounds like is flooding out obviously due to amount of fuel being delivered. What do I do, short of putting in electric pump!!!

Check the carby. It could be the float level or the needle and seat in the float bowl.

Has been suggested to me that an electric pump can regulte pressure? Think thats crap personally! Maybe I'm just to traditional.

The pressure with a mechanical pump is fixed, it's set by the return spring inside. Can't change. Would be fine for SU carbs.
Are you sure it's not the carb flooding? A new needle valve & seat will fix it if so.
