G'day fellas how are ya all??? Have a quick question, I know with the old school minis Your to have zero movement with the motor when you accelerate or decelerate. My question is my dad has a Rover mini and if he starts it and let's his clutch off and on a little bit the engine moves a little bit, is this normal or is something broken? Or worn? The rubbers are new in the engine stabiliser. Cheers fellas

Has it got the stabilisers under motor?

Gotta check the rear mount rubber behind the remote as well. When there has been rocking, it comes down the remaining undamaged rubbers to absorb the shock. Sometimes they go out in sympathy.

A remote gearchange engine should be as solid as a rock. Rocking issues in road goers are for rod change in my opinion!

Maybe try looking while someone CAREFULLY takes up load on and off. see what's loose.

front subframe is rubber mounted on the later rovers,,,
probly worth a look to see if they`re broken (probly are)

you only need to stand there turning the steering wheel left-to-right & watch the whole engine & frame move side-to-side

No offence intended here but--> anyone writing a book about minis 30 years ago may not have experienced such worn or stuffed-with components as we are finding these days.

You should put your heart & soul into everything you do.

I did that Peter and it looks like there's movement where the stabiliser bolts to the motor although if tried getting a spanner down there ( with difficulty ause everything's in the way) and it seemed fairly tight.....

The rubber mounts in the lower stabilisers don't seem to last, there's a lot of leverage on them. I fitted these and they seem to be lasting ok.

With the engine stabiliser is it the same as say my mini k? With a bracket then the stabiliser then another bracket? If that makes sense... So a bracket right up against the block then a stabiliser then another bracket.
