Hey All,

The rear exhaust mount snapped the other day, it looks like its been welded up previously...

my problem is, the loop part that goes around the pipe has been welded on... how should I get the old part? just grind it away

also, can i disconnect the last section of the exhaust, by undoing that U bolt, or will it be welded there also?

Image

thanks!

You should be able to remove the last section of the pipe as you say. I would just carefully grind that old bracket of and replace it with a new one.

u bolt should be fine maybe a exhaust shop might have the correct diameter pipe and bend you one up im having trouble getting the front section from manifold to the muffler im thinking of doing the same thing going to a exhaust shop and having one bent up mines welded where it clamps to the diff section and you cant get that pipe in aus no more so ive been told from a few sources

Grind the old bracket off, when you undo the u-bolt the pipe may be a bit rusted into the muffler so it can sometimes prove a PITA to get apart.

I'd get thee to an exhaust shop and ask for a new tailpipe to be bent up. Then fit a new clamp and mount.

A Cooper mount bracket setup is stronger (has 2 rubber mounts not 1).

The trick is not to tighten the bracket too tight, it'll allow for movement and also the exhaust actually moves back and forth with engine movement, not sideways like say a holden/ ford. The pipe also gets longer as it heats up.
