I phoned a guy from the Victorian Mini Car Club when I found a Cooper S for sale in Vic and he told me he couldn't help me.
It's a shame that happened but it's an individual decision for members. There isn't an advertised service as such but more a willingness by some members to help another enthusiast. I'm in Carnegie and would be willing to offer what I know about Cooper S's to someone who has their eyes on a car and is serious about buying it. Of course there's no warranty or guarantee I can give that a car is absolutely 100% genuine, just a sensible and reasonable personal opinion on the features appearing on the car or missing from it that would aid in identifying it as a Cooper S, or not. Getting other opinions would make sense when you are committing lots of dollars.
