I'd not bother heating it unless you live in Tassie, or maybe the Snowy.
Most people don't hook it up, unless you get carb icing inside.

[edit] Having said this, YES, I am going to water heat my Weber manifold, because I get carb icing in the Dellorto when cruising at 110KMH or faster. But I'll put a ball valve on so that for non-freeway use, it can be turned off.

I took my mini to Len reed (racepoint developments) today and that was the first thing his going to pull off... Engine came from the motherland so it's needed there but not here.

I run one on my Moke. I haven't had any problems with carb icing since fitting it. Its quite exciting when you are travelling at highway speeds and you run up behind a slower car with the throttle frozen wide open.

Yep I had the same problem in Tassie, with Barney's 1293 on the run across to Queenstown. It's a bit harder to fix with twin HS4s though.

Twins SU's are a pain Doc. Here in Canberra my twins ice up all the time. Usually have to pull over and let it idle for a bit. The heat off the extractors helps. Just glad it's not a daily driver.

You could weld a bit of 3/8" alloy tube along the balance tube, like I'm doing with the Redline Weber manifold next time it comes off.
You only need to weld it on above the 2 inlet ports where heat transfer is needed.

Great idea. Thanks.
