To make it easier to work on major restoration work, here is a few pictures and measurements for putting together a rotissaire on which you can mount your Mini. As the cars usually rust from the bottom up, life is a lot simpler when you can spin the car around to work on the bottom. This make welding, painting and mounting all the fuel and brake lines a standup propostion, instead of lying on your back.

If you build one make sure to put some castors on it.. verrry handy. :wink:

I'd say you would wont brakes or stoppers on it..you dont wont it running out the drive way :shock: :lol:

I didnt fit any of the cross bracing inside my clubman while on the spit, do you think that makes much differance?

You only need to crossbrace it if doing major panel replacement like a whole floor, IMO.
I put 2 front floor pans in the 850 (1 at a time), measured door openings & squareness before and after, was no difference. :wink:

Any ideas on features that a rotissary should have?
Casters, rotation clamps, height adjustment?

The one I borrowed came apart in bolted sections for easy storage & transport. It had the pole supported in a 1/2 pipe welded on each end frame. To fix rotation, the pole had a plate with 8 holes in to that lined up with one in the front frame, and a 1/2" bolt. So it could be fixed at 45*, 90*, 135*, 180* etc. And it was failsafe- couldn't slip out of position. :wink:
