Here are 2 photos to get you started. The battery cable can be attached 2 ways. Either over or under the subframe. I have seen both ways. I also have a fuel filter before my pump which is not standard.

I am searching for some detailed images of the underside of the Mk1 cooper s Unfortunately I have a pile of parts here having acquired my car in a partially dis-assembled state and can not find detailed images on correct orientation/layout etc. The main area of concern to me at the moment is the rear end, trying to work out the correct orientation/bracketry for the fuel pump. Then need to work out which brake lines go where and how they attach to the body/subframe and also how the proportioning valve is attached to the car. |

Thanks for those pics! Does the stock setup rely only on the in-tank filters at the pickup or was there a filter somewhere else? Are you able to find a pic of the shape of the fuel pipe that goes from the proportioning valve across to the passenger side of the car? |

Many people put a fuel filter under the bonnet just before the carbs. I have gone the other way because it protects the pump. My tanks are missing the pickup strainers. The pipe that goes from the rear brake proportion valve to the passenger side is about 2 foot long with a 4 inch dog-leg at one end and a slight bend at the other. |

I had not seen the somerfordmini website until now, that has some much better images that the parts selectors I had been using on the minisport uk site. http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... ts_id=3836 That actually shows the shape of the brake line, whereas others just show it as a straight line. |

Yes sometimes the pictures do not look the same if they use a schematic style of image. I use somerford a lot to get part numbers and check if items are NLA. Here is the dogleg with the fuel pump removed. Attachment: Fuel pump removed.jpg

I dont know if the difference was a factory thing or because people cut the cable and need to re-route it or because people forget to install the cable before refitting the rear sub. |

The battery cable did not run between the body and subframe, as did hydro, fuel and brake pipes - that is why the angle bracket on the subframe (which 'simon k' commented on) was used to lift the cable from hanging too low. Maybe fear of chaffing and shorting out on the body. My mini K is 1 owner and Mk 2 S both have the same arrangement. |

It must have been an Australian built thing? I'm always reminding people to fit the cable and pipes before putting in the frames, I've just put my frames back in the 60 and yesterday realized I'd forgotten the fuel pipe!! but at least that one is easy to snake over the rear frame..................... |
