Still haven't found one that will have a connection for oil feed to the turbo. There are plenty around (search perma-cool, jardine, derale)... just wondering if its worth getting one of the generic ones and putting a tee for the turbo feed - just worried about lack of oil pressure then though. Anyones thoughts?

Ha? The factory oil filter relocator has the outlet for the feed line for the turbo.

Now the obvious question is have you removed the whole relocator to fit your relocator or are you just going to put your relocator where the oil filter would go?

Fairly confident that is your feed line for the turbo.

Found one

This is off the starlet I built.

The red anodised speedflow fitting on the bottom right hand corner, thats your feed for the turbo.

I think Dan (minimetoy) removed the factory oil filter relocator and got his pressure feed for the turbo from the oil pressure switch.

Cheers JC.. the plan is to remove the pictured part completely and put in a relocating boss. There isn't any room for the std one with my installation unfortunately..

What are peoples thoughts on running a single after market fuel pump in the engine bay somewhere and having no submersible pump in the fuel tank? I'm thinking a new fuel cell and pump is all....

Do you think priming will be an issue? Any other issues anyone can see with a setup like this?

I run a single in line pump (VL turbo) from the tank. Its mounted under the back of the car. Don't mount in the engine bay. It will be too noisy plus they are made to push fuel rather than suck.

It runs ok at the moment without a surge tank and lifter pump, but I keep the tank above 1/2.
Previously I let it get down a bit on a long twisty drive and it was starving the pump of fuel. ended up having to replace the pump. I now have a surge tank on the workbench waiting to be fitted.

It should be better with a upright saloon tank rather than the long, flat van tank, but put a surge tank in anyway. its cheaper than a new efi fuel pump. :(

Update o'clock....

All seat brackets are complete - view from behind:

How the brackets look when the passenger seat is removed:

And finished off the idler pulley bracket for the water pump too...

Test fit looks like this (belt for reference only as it's too long and belongs to the alternator):

Bracket without idler:

Well done Nick. Unless I've missed it before, it's the first time I've seen an tensioner used for the water pump instead of stretching the belt over the crank & water pump pulleys.

Got the brackets and tensioner for the alternator finished today, among a few other bits and pieces...

Does anyone know whether putting an after-market air filter and inlet line to the turbo means having to do emissions testing to rego in SA? Don't really have a lot of choice but to re-route the inlet for packaging reasons.

as far as i know your allowed 2 induction modifications.
ie: front mount intercooler and pod filter is legal.

so aftermarket airfilter should be fine!

Picked up some more goodies today! Oil filter relocation kit.... From earls. Part numbers are 1178ERL (Filter replacement boss) and 2178ERL (Filter mount). You can get cast versions of the same thing (probably a bit cheaper but not as sweet lookin!)..

Image

Now just gotta get busy with the catalogue and work out what fittings i need...
