I totally agree. What's $150 in the long run? I'm getting towards the end of my project (but will it ever end?) and it looks like I might be able to finish the car for around 10 grand so $150 truly is almost nothing.

I would prefer the car to be simple and straight forward but of course, if the Rover tank won't cut it I will upgrade. I'll be running the engine with stock power for a while so that's not a huge amount of grunt and I'll probably need to upgrade later. I wonder if the Rover pump can be swapped to a larger capacity one? Maybe something like an MGF or similiar might fit?

There are many small submersible pumps that would fit inside the tank, both aftermarket and used. Stock WRX pumps can be picked up for $20 to $50, but you would need to make a way to secure it (when fitting an aftermarket pump to an Sti it's usually just cable tied to the existing bracket).

Internal pumps are neat & quiet, but VL Commode pumps are cheap and easy to fit - already sold my one though.

Yep definently going another pump,I want to make sure i have plenty
of fuel supply and as JC said a surge tank. the motor will be basically
stock but better to have good fuel supply at all times rather than
a bit of starvation

The morrie is making incremental progress. Trying to sort out everything in the engine bay then I'll pull the frame for final bracing and welding. Then I'll get Frank back...

Time for a bit of an update, progress has been slow but steady, I got my
power booster and air box sorted so here's a few pics

Image

Image

Air box is from a fiestiva

I cut out the old radiator area for the air box, its a fairly good fit, I'll tidy
this up when i put it in the good shell

Image

Put a nutsert in the frame for a stabilizing bracket

Image

Then made a little rubber mounted bracket

Image

Fitted up its nice and solid

The cars away getting the radiator made , hope to get it back tomorrow

That's a very neat way to fit your airbox, well done.
