That's looking awesome... where'd you get all the suspension gear? Same place or bits and pieces from here and there?

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS AWESOME NEWS

First the good news,

I got my fuel system temporarily fitted so i can fire the ol girl up, gotta make a bracket for the surge tank and pump. But it's all working fine.

Image

Bad news is i had to finalise some wiring, the motor was turning over but i had no power to the coil , ignitor, and injectors.
i spent 2 nights trying to work out what i had cut out that i should'nt have, to no avail.

I found a beared wire which was rubbing on the firewall which had blown a fuse, repair wire change fuse, problem solved?

NO

By this stage i thought i might have spiked the computer, so i sent it away to get tested, But all came back good, no problems
I then tested power to the coil again and had power, and at the injectors.
you beauty i thought,so i plugged in the computer and had no power.
Steam pouring out of the ears by this stage, i went inside for lunch and watch some v8's
Came back out and started following wires.
WAIT FOR IT

Came across an earth i had missed
When i had power and then did'nt ,the fuse box was resting on the floor ontop of the earth when i plugged the computer in i must have moved the fuse box (and the earth)
Anyway earthed out the wire and of course had power everwhere,VERY VERY ANNOYING

Now the good news
2 cranks of the starter and she fired into life, so good to hear it after 2 years
YEEE HAAA

Excellent news Hallsey, must be a great boost to hear it run.

How close to getting on the road is it? Will it make an appearance on the weekend?

Yep good news all i'm pretty stoked,
(Gotta learn to do the quote thing)

G,day Ross still a while off yet, i'll be at Watto's on sunday still with the trusty ol A series in her .

G,day Tricky, just got drive shafts, exhaust and the wiring (shortning and lengthing)Then the engineer comes back and if he's happy it all gets transfered over to the good shell, then he comes back and signs her off.

Does'nt sound that much does it (if you say it quick)

JC
That filter you see is after the pump but there's another one before it out of sight

Excellent milestone Hallsey!

I think I missed the exact same earth before I got mine running. Short earth wire going to the top of the gearbox just under the fusebox[or at least where my fusebox is]?

If you ever need to check that your ecu or any other component works I have a few spares, (incl. ecu) you could try out.

Hi Guys
Need some help

Initially i was going to use the starlet steering column, made brackets
cut the spline off the bottom of the mini shaft and welded it to the starlet
shaft, all was sweet until the engineer came and said it was a no no .

Anything that is welded to do with steering has to be X rayed, so i put it
in the to hard basket and was just going to fit the starlet binicle to the
mini column .

The ploblem i have now is trying to get the horn and indicators self
canceling to work.

I'm thinking of moulding the bottom of the starlet into my SAAS wheel
but i thought I'd check and see who is running this combo and what did
you do or I'm open to everyone's brain trust

The piece on top is the bottom of the starlet steering wheel

I'm thinking of moulding this to the SAAS wheel

Hi guys
just a small update to let you know i'm still plodding away.
Kids have started their race season so time is limited now but i've
been making slow progress.

I had a drive of James's (77 clubby van) car and i must say it was awesome

Well i've started the dash ,the first stage anyway

Image

Well i should say i roped my son (a chippy by trade) to help with
the making

Image

And cut some holes

Image

And in the car

Image

On a side note i have been busy with other stuff that has interupted
working on the mini

1st of all after years of " I must get around to that" I painted my
daily driver

Image

And i've also bought my next project DA VAN

Current plan is to use the blingy tarox discs and calipers and get new disc and hub adapters made. Engineer reckons he can get a cheaper quote than $1000.

I hope he can too.

The dash looks good. How are you thinking of finishing it? Vinyl covering or paint or...?

That hilux came up a treat too. Yamaha blue? :P  :P

P.S: Can't wait to see what you do with the van!

Tarox make a pretty nice looking adapter for the calipers to adapt to the hubs...
