Hi Rocket man The three main bearings is a problem but not as much as that great lump of metal hanging 6" away from the main bearing, and turning left and right trying to make act like a gyro, and all that whipping beaning transferred up the timing chain and along the camshaft shaking the daylights out of the valve springs, with the five main bearing motors they are not as bad but any inline four has problems because you have two going up and two going down which gives you vertical vibration. That's why you may notice that all the modern motor bikes tilt their motors forward to get away from vertical vibration. If you think back to the old bikes BSA, triumphs, etc when you started them up they would jump all over the place not as smooth as the modern bikes. Graham Russell
