I'm going to get a vent pipe welded into the rocker cover to connect to an oil catch can on the firewall. I've got one of Ben's SC12 kits that I will be installing soon so I want to be sure that the vent pipe won't foul anything on the SC kit.
I'm planning for the vent pipe to be in the top back corner of the rocker cover ie opposite #4 spark plug and be pointing directly at the firewall. Will that clear everything?

have it pointing the drivers side arch rather than the firewall.

Thanks guys. gr4h4m thanks for the photo. That helps a lot. Where I was thinking of having the vent pipe is at the other end of the rocker cover to yours - about where your Pclip is, but facing the firewall. From your photo it looks like it would just clear the plenum/manifold

Here's what I've done. I used to have a breather off of the tappet covers on the rear (it's a Cooper S block) but it was too tight back there. So I covered that up and put 1 in the rocker cover, found that wasn't enough and put a second. Next thing I will do is throw away the clutch cover breather, make a new one and go with that. The problem is that the stadard one has a wire mesh inside to collect flying oil. Problem is, it does that too well, and in winter it all blocks up.

Wow my engine bay is dodgy, it is a daily driver though. Last time it was cleaned was about a year and a half ago.

I did wipe the rocker cover for the photo though

I still use the tappet chest breather, I turned it up-side down and put it on the clutch cover and run a rubber hose to the catch tank

Thanks guys. Slinkey, I'm going to copy your setup, I hope that's OK and you don't have a patent :)

Nah that's cool. I appreciate that. :)

I should note, as it may not be obvious that my connectors on the rocker cover are screwed in.

A quick tap and drill did the trick.

Also the hose is petrol resistant hose, interestingly also for food use and was cheaper than fuel line which would be an overkill.

Slinky do you have to watch the breathers when you do an oil change so the oil doesn't fill the catch tank whilst its dropping into the sump?

I did an oil change fairly recently and don't remember having to.

But yeah I imagine if I poured too fast it would be a problem.

Next oil change I'll hook the two sides of the rocker cover together with the one pipe (the hose connections are a nice tight fit, but twist off with some force) and just fill like you normally would.
