If plating, probably last. You could get the can plated seperately from the cylinder whiley they are apart but it will make it harder solder back on neatly. That said, the plating may not take to the solder that well anyway.

Be careful.. I had mine plated but the process ate some of the solder that holds everything together. It lasted a few years but eventually the lids (or at least the little cylindrical bits the lid screw onto) popped off....

They often do that, even when not re-plated. They solder back on pretty easily though.
