Decided to get some new runabout tyres to extend the life of my A008s.
With no more Bridgies available, Falkens were the only choice... which wasn't really an issue - until...
After fitting them to a set of LS type factory alloy wheels - 10X5s - (which I've used for years) I installed them on the back of my Traveller only to find that they rub on the shock body. (Yes, I do have spaced drums).
When I measured the distance from hub face to the inner edge of the sidewall, the Falken is about 15mm deeper than the same sized Bridgestone - mounted on the same type of rim.
Luckily I had 2 useable Bridgestones so they went on the rear... with stacks of room.
Has anyone else faced this issue? If so I'd appreciate advice ... Eventually I'll need to fit the Falkens to the back.
Just for interest I measured a few tyres... The new Falkens are 180mm sidewall to sidewall, the Bridgestones were 167, A008s were 169 and an old Falken was 171 (has a different sidewall design to the new one). The Yokie and old Falken were mounted on 4.5 S wheels.
Despite the overall dimension ...and the difference wheel sizes...when the "inset" difference was measured, the Bridgie was 2mm less the the Yoko which was 2 mm less than the old Falken. Howeveer, the new Falken was 15 mm deeper than the Bridgestone on the same wheel.. So everything fits..except the Falken on a factory wheel GGRRR.
