Hi,

I have taken the steering column out and noticed how the upper bracket is held by bolts which go through the upper dash rail down through the bracket. The metal is quite flimsy in the rail. I have recently noticed on minispares catalogue a bracket that is meant to support the dash rail with the bolts going upwards into it:

http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search

it does not say which model minis have this. I was just wondering if minis were meant to have this bracket and the previous owner has messed it up?

Thanks

Steve.

One bolt goes through the pedal box which gives it plenty of support. Australian cars didn't have that plate (not that I've ever seen anyway)

Thanks everyone.

Hmmm...I'm guessing from 75 on the steering column used shear bolts etc? Anyway, I was really seeing if my round nose was meant to have them. I have had a bit of a look and from the parts lists on mini kingdom it looks like it was used in UK minis with a different upper steering column bracket.....

Roundy here had a different pedal box, as Simon says, bolt goes through the box.
