Well it's that time again ......rebuild time.

I have a longer stroke crank I'd like to use but I need to find a set of rods 100thou { 2.5 mm for you metric rover lovers {{ bmw owners}} ...lol}

Would anyone have a set of 521 "s"rods { I also need to narrow them to suit an 1100"s"journal } that have been made shorter ??

Or anyone have contact details for somewhere I could get a set { just 4} made, I'm in Melbourne and would like, if I need to get them made, do this in Aus.

Why don't you use the standard S rods and take the 100thou off the top of the piston?
Use the Hypertec pistons, as I understand they have more meat on the top and the rings are a little lower than some others.

Yes that's how I have done a few strokers. No problem.

I'd like to keep running the Omega forged ones that are currently in it ......I figured that rods shouldn't be a problem but where to find some ??

All mini rods where the same length except for the 970s which where a tad longer.

Shortening the pistons would be more economic.

The only other thing could you fit some rods from another vechile. May be a small jap car.

I doubt you will find non A series rods fit, most rods are symmetrical not offset left and right at the big end.
You could get rods custom made but it will cost big $$$.

are you going to be able to save the pistons when the pins are pushed out of them to change the rods?

I'd be setting the existing pistons and rods up flat on a mill and taking the 100 thou off them in situ

I actually have a set of 521 Rods that have been narrowed for a stroked large journal crank. (Now small journal). Three of which are still fitted wit 74 mm Omega pistons but one piston was melted and was removed and thrown away. Let me know if this is what you are after.

Simon ... yes I can save them as the are now floating pins, the Omega's came with bushes and smaller dia pin and are now set up like a small bore piston pin.

Still after someone who could steer me towards somewhere that could make me some rods in Aus.
