Id like to first say thanks to Mike for the free engine, i'll bring that carton to you when the engines back in and running

problem is, the engine has a pot joint diff and a rod change box.. ive decided the chewapest route is to split the box off and use my gearbox.
and i have rubber unijoint axles and remote box.. the rod is too short as its from a moke and i dont have the axles.. local mini plce says 150 for the axles including pot joints and 50 for the remote rod for a mini. couldnt be bothered.

i'm now having problems with removing the flywheel. ive managed to find a socket big enough to remove the big bolt (1.5" or 38mm).. but cant seem to find a puller big enough to get the flywheel off now the bolt has gone.. does anyone have the mini special tool or a big enough harmonic balancer remover for this task here in perth or know where i can buy one?

i'm still not convinced i wont reuse my engine as the pistons looks brand new.. i think i was right with the hydraulicing the piston causing it to seize as number 2 and 3 are at TDC and the head gasket came off so cleanly (as if i put it on yesterday) as some moron put the bugger on with gasket glue, i can see where water has broken the seal into number 2 cylinder. the head looks great though.. can see its been runnning rich but the valves are in really good nick. i think this is just a bad engine build

back to the task at hand.. Flywheel puller anyone?

so your telling me that the 46 people that have read this have never taken an engine apart and dont know where to get a big puller from?

I Bought one from Karcraft (sykes pickavant brand) for $51 only 1 month ago. Call em and ask for a price. Cheapest one I could find anywhere!

Course, I still used a hammer through the starter motor hole after I broke one of the puller's bolts

why do you need the whole drive shaft you only need the coupling of the end of the drive shaft surly someone over there has a set

i need the inner half of the driveshaft, the bit the pot joint goes onto, only problem is.. the inner half of a pot joint shaft dont fit the outer half of a uni joint shaft.. so i need the shaft all the way to the CV joint.. $150.. so i will keep my rubber unis (only replaced em a couple of months ago anyway)

does that include pot joints?

that would be awesome, now all i need is the rod from the rod change box.. (apparently the moke one is shorter)

full box back shifter would be better as the one i have is quite crappy

i also have the selector not sure on the stick though 80 all up you pay postage it will have the part that go's inside the pot joint but you will need new ball bearings bout 2 3 bucks each

i have a stick.. its just the connectors on the rods that i'm concerned about

so the drive shafts will need ball bearings, and boots i assume

Yeah watch what you buy. Many are just toys..
I'd make one out of 20mm plate, with a 1" UNF hi-tensile nut welded to it and 3 bolts 3/8 UNF grade 8.
Just like the one I made in 1965 and I'm still using...
