I had my wheels off today and while it was in the air i check the drum brakes (all good) then i checked the hand brake adjuster seemed to be tight but i was able to adjust the handbrake cable.

now in the old days i remember you could adjust your handbrake by revising then using the hand brake is that the same in a mini ?

Handbrake adjustment is done at the 2 cables from inside the cab. There are 2 nuts under the handbrake gator. Tighten them up evenly so you have about 5 clicks on the ratchet.

The rear shoe adjustment is done by the square bolt at the top of the backing plate. It has a taper on the end that pushes onto 2 wedges. Screw it in 1/4 turn at a time to tighten the brakes.

Best to adjust rear shoes first, then cables. Otherwise you could be using handbrake link as adjuster.
Also good idea to check pivots on arms and cable slides in centre.

It's the only way to do it... Get the shoes adjusted first then use the internal adjusters to get the lever right.

Checking the quadrants at the front of the trailing arms is also good advice. For years (in pre-Internet days) I was plagued by dodgy adjustment on one side....it always needed fiddling to work. Eventually, someone who knew what they were doing, looked at it and pointed out that the quadrant on one side was upside down.... The quadrants are asymmetric and only work the right way round (although they can be installed either way....)

Are these for dry suspension with through-bolts holding the quadrants?
Does this apply to wet quadrants with the fixed swivel pin?
