Hi guys are there any issues with pumping the hydro system up with compressed air to test all connections ect, & what pressure. Cheers

I have done it in the past. The system takes 300psi so 110psi wont hurt it.

Does that mean you have to take it all apart after the test to prefill the bags? Do the bags get filled prior to connecting? I have to do this too. Not sure how it works without bleed holes in the displacer to get air out.

Ideally you would have the system evacuated with a vacuum pump before the final filling of fluid. However air can be bled off by raising the rear of the car then pumping and dumping a few times until the air has excaped.

Why raise the rear of the car; just pump it up high (4 fingers or so at front) then push the valve stem in hard to dump pressure as quick as possible. Repeat. Works for me...
[edit] I have a simple pump (clutch MC), it screws straight onto the hydro nipple. No fancy fittings...

Its just something my mechanical brain tells me to do as air will go to the high spots. No real scientific evidence to it. Just makes me think i am doing it properly.

you're better off pumping it up with water to test for leaks..

Yeah me too. BMC should have put the connections at top of the front subframe, as on the Morris 1100. Which came out before the hydro Mini, go figure... :?
