I've had my speedo out and gave it a good clean but now it is giving the incorrect spear reading does anyone have any tricks on where you should point the needle before the stopper to get the correct reading

Yes...when it is being calibrated :!:

On most I've seen, the needle or pointer sits somewhere about 6 o'clock when it is past the end stop...if you can drive the unit to a known revs you could then carefully pop the needle on...then carefully hold the spindle so that you can push the needle home without pushing down on the spindle...

Burt, like I said, if you are ham-fisted or not confident...leave it to someone who knows whats (what)

That was exactly what I was going to do
Now who want to sit in the passenger seat while I calibrate it to 100mph lol

Actually might get someone else to drive while I do it

I did a similar thing to calibrate my tacho. Sat it on 3000rpm via the timing light and stuck the needle back on.

It would work the same on the speedo using your phone GPS. Find an 80kph speed zone and calibrate to 50mph.

Do I have to have my eyes open :?:

But seriously, just do it at 100Km/hr by stopwatch on a measured "mile" or by GPS

EDIT: people, all you do is note where the needle is indicating at a known 100Km/hr then come back to the workshop and adjust the speedo accordingly...not whilst its on the road!

(Although, in theory, if you left the glass and the bezel off...the passenger could gently put the pointer on   )
