I have and found that I had to change the flasher can as the old need "thermal" somethings to make it work.

I was thinking about getting some of those as i'm building a new dash and think they would look better then the low light ones that are in the dash at the moment

i have LED's in my parkers they work well, never bothered with indicators but requires a flasher designed for LED's otherwise the flash really fast. as far as LED headlights work a treat they give off a colour inbetween halogen & HID's the only real downside is there shine distance is considerably shorter (but would still be better than stock mini sealed beams)

I used some of those LED replacement globes in my Moke for a while, but there were a couple of things I didn't like, firstly although they were brighter than old globes, the spread of the beam wasn't as good as an incandescent globe. They were OK from right behind, but were not very good out to the sides. It wasn't helped by the Moke's globes being held sideways, rather than with the end facing forwards or backwards.

The other thing that I didn't like was that the very blue/white colour of the LEDs tended to overwhelm the ability of the lenses of the lights to filter them to red or orange. The indicators looked whitish yellow, instead of amber and the brake lights purplish white instead of red. If I was going to do it again, I'd try to track down amber and red LEDs, rather than bright white ones.

As mentioned, you either need to use an electronic flasher can, or fit resistors to make the old electro-mechanical flasher can work.

I noticed LED replacement headlight globes when chasing up a gauge for my land rover. They state does not comply with ADR so presumably you can't legally use them! The other thing you could consider is HID replacement globes for the headlights: https://view.publitas.com/ashdown-ingra ... ge/210-211 which I was considering for my motorbike for a while. The problem is that although very bright they are quite glaring to oncoming traffic

I agree the colour of LED lights is variable, many are too much like daylight when you really want a warm colour.

Whether they are ADR compliant or not has no relevance to use in vehicles manufactured prior to the adoption of the 3rd Edition ADR's on 1 July 1988. Prior to this, there was no ADR applicable to headlights in the 2nd Edition, and ADR's are not retrospective.

As the majority of our vehicles are pre-ADR anyway, it is the Vehicle Standards that dictate what equipment they must have and how it must perform.

With respect to headlights on cars... they must be fitted in pairs, show white light to the front, light the road a particular distance ahead on low and high beam, not dazzle oncoming drivers or reflect back into your own eyes, and be a certain height and distance in from the side of the car.

If you can fit LED or HID lights and still comply with the requirements, then you are good to go.

and to add to this HID's need to be self levelling and have lenses washing ability.
