Hey Y'All,
Am trying to remove the number plate flap so I can get the colour matched.

The screws / bolts look like they can be undone by an allan key but I tried last night and they actuall all seem to be round... not rounded off by poor application of an allan key but actually round!?!

They are a tad rusty and I have put some penetrene on them to remove them but without anything to gain any purchase with a suitable "tool" to remove these strange bolts I am somewhat at a loss.

I can take a photo and post it later tonight as it was too dark last night....

Has anyone experienced this? Know what the bolts are? is there a special tool to remove them?

Zulu

They are Phillips screws and very easily rounded off

I'm having exactly the same problem in removing mine for exactly the same reason - to match the paint colour. I've removed two screws each side with a Phillips head driver bit but the top two require an angled approach and are now rounded due to my persistence with a power driver. I've used lots of WD40 front and back but no cigar so far.

Next option is to get a small dremel cutting bit in there to remanufacture the slots. Other option is one of those manual driver tools, the one with a driver bit that you hit on the end with a hammer to cause a twisting action. I haven't got one so am trying other options before shelling out $30 or so for a tool I may only use once.

Dremmel is a good idea. I'll have to wait for the penetrene to work its magic first.

Hallelujah !! Just managed to get one of the last screws out using a normal screwdriver. The flap then slides out so no need to get both brackets off, just one side.

For some reason, those little setscrews are hard to remove and it's probably worth using one of those impact drivers that have to be hit "hard" with a hammer. The setscrews are replaceable but they will round over if you are not brutal to start with.
