The only thing I can think of is that the radiator is partly blocked - being alloy I've no way of really checking.

Will fit the super 2 core I have when I get the head back!

I changed out my rad. Made all the difference and meant I could replace the 72degC thermostat a previous owner installed (now std 88degC) and removed the overflow bottle a PO also installed. Now handles the load easily. I installed one of the 2 core "super" uk ones (3 core didn't fit, probably bent inner wing) available from your local mini parts supplier. (PS. Minis Plus may have a 3 core they specially ordered for me going at a good price  )

My alloy rad is Chinese, cost about $100?, very well constructed (great welding job) but I fail to see how it will block up running decent coolant. For the hell of it I drained it last week (easy, has a neat drain plug fitted) and the coolant looked fine/ clean and it was close to 2 years old....

This rad I have was on my old motor that blew a head gasket, and some oil did get in the coolant at the time. I flushed and ran cleaner through it , but maybe it did block it up a bit.
