should isolate a number (single or double) with a double digit next to it
month and year

and maybe even an inked stamp on the back of the speedo housing from the engine bay

That's pretty cool being only 14 cars apart on the factory line. Shame they're nearly at opposite ends of Aus.
So it's quite safe to say it's a 68 then.

I have a feeling that for mine, its only the running gear thats out of a 68 and it has been swapped into an earlier year deluxe shell.
Still it does give some indication of what year yours is.
There are a few people on here who have 68 deluxes so a few more chassis numbers should pin it down more.I'd say 67 or 68.

ummm..I think there's a date stamped into the light/wiper switches you could try that and there's definitely one on the boot lid catch.
I think you could also try the tank sender as well.

Add them all together and you should get a better picture age.

What's the original colour the car came in, that might help.

I'm not posting my quickest (read most stupid) time between bris and coffs either.
Oh and according to Whereis.com it would take 8hours
My best mate Ian has organised a group of minis to come up as a convoy from Coffs going the more fun way.

hey Makka, you're comparing the engine number of NAV's mates car with Drekkus' car number - the car numbers are 1250 apart....

my deluxe is late '64 on the wiper motor, and it's car number is 24600 ish
