Well spent most of Sat removing the door lock and outer door handle assembly to fit new ones to the passenger side
I bought a new door lock and fitted that latch and lock assembly for an Aussie mini, made new rivets and re-assembled it
The biggest problem was the dodgy spiral spring that wouldn't fit over the square shaft of the new handle
So after remaking the square centre of the spring i was getting close to finishing it
Lucky i had a magnetic pick up tool for retrieving the dropped screws etc

NOW the question is
Is it normal for the outer door handle mount to distort the door skin a little when fitting it
Or is there a secret trick to prevent this
I was thinking the new rubber was a bit thick
After what i did i feel it would be better to remove the whole door and work on it on its side

Done mine recently Gundy. Doors were already on, a ning nong of a job but I didn't seem to have too much trouble. Only swore about 50 times so that't pretty normal.

Did you notice if the door handle surround had distorted the door skin at all

Never had a problem with mine. Is there a right and left side door handle? That might explain it?
