I am in the process of repainting the 850 and want to get the under body back to original looks.
Did these have an under body sealer which was then over sprayed with body colour?

How far did the under seal extend to the sides? Just the "flat" section of floor pan or did it come up out to the edges, and up the side? How far did it come out - to the seam where the side panel laps with the floor panel or all the way to the edge?

How much of the under guards was covered? The whole lot or just the upper sections?
Did it cover the full inner section of the front apron, out to the edges?

How far up the fire wall did the under seal come - Once again just the flat section of the floor, or up towards the steering rack mount?

What was the finish like? Orange peal type finish or was it a heavy spray with more ripple?
Anyone have photos of the finish, other than Parnell's book which is English assemble bricks?

Any comments, photos greatly appreciated - Thanks

Original under body seal was a bit hit and miss. Finish was heavy ripple spray pattern in most places but thinning towards edges.
Under guards concentrated mainly on the top underside.
Floor was just the flat section thinning out in the tunnel.
Fire wall treatment finished below the cross member. The mounting points and pinion hole were protected with square section of masking tape later removed.
Definitely didn't extend up the sides of the sills.

Have pics if you need.

Photobucket seems to have gone the same way as Eblah. So much advertising resulting in waiting forever for pages to load or NOT!!!!

What is the alternative that people are using for posting pics?

Cooperess can you PM me your email and I'll send pics there.

Imgur is what all the cool kids are using these days. You can post anonymously or with a free account.

attachments in here work fine - you need to use the 'full editor' (clicking the reply button), not the little form at the bottom of the topic.

Under the Preview/Submit buttons there's a section called 'Upload attachment'

click 'Choose File', find your picture, then click OK, and then click 'Add the file'

Then you get another little section that and you select your image and click 'Place Inline'

it's not really any more complicated than using photobucket or whatever
