I pumped up the hydro on the 68 Deluxe a week ago to get a little more clearance over the front wheels.

Got up this morning to find a green puddle at the rear of the car. I was hoping the schrader valve was the problem. So replaced the valve core and pumped it up a bit, but found it leaking on the right rear side.

Question is what is involved in replacing the hydro bag can it be replaced with the rear subframe in or does that need to come out.

I have put a block of wood where the perished bump stop is or was so I can at least move the car a bit.

Then I have to look at a replacement or a fix for the bag / hose.

Yes you replace it with the subframe in.
I would fit a new knuckle joint whilst it's out, and replace the bag's dust boot too.
If it's leaking at the crimp connector on the hose, the hose can be replaced. Original Dunlop Diamond hose is NLA but I have used Pirtek MPH-06 successfully.

I have found that if the rear displacers are leaking, its usually terminal. Two of mine from a Mini K (Green Band) had leaking diaphragms which caused the casings to rust and thus became unserviceable. Minisport SA have used items for sale at $195 which is not too bad seeing these parts are becoming hard to source. Good idea to snap up any on e-bay etc that come up from time to time, and keep a supply of spares in the back shed.

I am pleased to know I don't need to remove the rear subframe. So I best try and get the bag out for a better look see.

Will check the knuckle and dust cover whilst it's out then.

There is a rebound rubber in front of the arm knuckle boss. Remove it first for more room.

There are 4 green bags for sale in F/S section, in SA for $300. I would buy them but it's too far away.

p.s.: try pumping up the valve a few times first. These valves don't get used much and can dribble after being disturbed.

I got the bag out, but have found this spring on the garage floor.



Anybody got any idea where this spring has come from ?

Goes inside the rod and puts tension on the dowel so the rod doesn't fall out when jacked up/ offroading

As above, the spring goes in the end of the extension rod before the pin (at the bag end) to keep the rod loaded.
