Ok,
Very excited now. For months now with the Good Doctor's help I have been creating an ausmini spec 1293 (1100S block) - yeah, I may have to revise my signature (or whatever it is called). I pulled the engine out way back on Australia Day, so it hasn't been a rushed job by any stretch. The timing wasn't helped by discovering the gearbox needed rebuilding as well, as you do, so it's now also ausmini spec (Mk 2 S ratios). Minispares took all of April to come good with HALF the gearbox parts, and Karcraft saved the day with the rest.

I'm pleased to report that it is almost back together, and it is looking pretty bling I think.
I have to work a little bit each night and over the weekend but I'm hoping to have it back on the road for Graham's Dyno day.

Image :D

And yes, the spark plugs are only there while I painted the head. Once it's back in the car, I've got new BP6ES's to go in.

ah, 1310/71? aka Kevin.
I don't think we've met yet Duc. I've only been getting involved since Nov or so last year and the car's been off the road since dec. The only run I've been on was Kazkim's garage sale (in a commodore with Davo). But as of next weekend - yippeee.

OMG Kev! It's actually together now? Looks great! I dunno about giving it a Dyno run before you run it in though, or is that not what you meant?

Gee it sure looks good in red. What colour is it and what brand paint? Did you paint the gb or is that bead blasted and clear coated? Now that I see yours I am thinking I need to do the same thing on my 1100S... cept not red as my car is already red. We need to have a chat about bling some time as it looks great!

Also I may need your bead blasting services for that remote box from Kev G... I'll owe you a beer or two for that

LOL Ausmini Spec hahaha we should make a rocker cover plate with that on it!

Either that or "DR MINI Special Tuning"

No I just meant having it back on the road in time to drive it to Graham's engine dyno day. I must ask the Doc re running in procedure. technically, it shouldn't need running in. As the rings and bores were already so new and hardly any wear, the pistons went straight back in, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to treat it as a run-in regardless.

yeah they are both painted with Septone brand paint (available from Supercheap and others in a green coloured can. The block is Bright red (it used to be VHT Chevy Orange but I wanted something a bit redder this time). The gearbox is either silver or aluminium. I think Aluminium but I'll check for you.

I didn't bead blast this one, just cleaned it up with diesel and sprayed over the original colour (Chevy Orange). The Doc did mention about your casing though and I said I'd have a crack at it for ya.

Yeah I like that one.

One day in the near future the van will be back on the road. It is almost ready to get stuck into.... :? It's lokking good mate. Hopefully we will be able to take all these fresh engined mini's for a drive sometime before the end of the year.

Cheers

Aaron

if i pushed really hard, i would probably be able to make it go as far as falling off the stands it is sitting on. so not too far at the moment... soon though. my time will be less in demand and i can get it back together.

Cheers

Aaron
